Whenever a game app gets popular, copycats follow. They use the same name, the same logo and almost the same web address, all to steal your password, your OTP or your money. Here's how to spot a fake game app before it costs you anything.

Warning sign 1: the address is slightly wrong

Scam sites use addresses that look right at a glance: an extra letter, a swapped number, a different ending such as .net instead of .com. Always check the address bar carefully, or better yet, open the site from a bookmark or a trusted link like the app pages on EarnPlayMax.

Be suspicious of links from strangers on WhatsApp, Telegram, Facebook groups or comments, especially ones promising "bonus", "hack" or "VIP" versions. Real apps don't need random people to distribute them.

Warning sign 3: they ask for your OTP

No legitimate app, agent or support team will ever ask you to share an OTP code.

An OTP is a one-time key to your account. Anyone asking for it, whatever the reason, is trying to take control of your account.

Warning sign 4: promises that sound too good

"Guaranteed winnings", "100% winning trick", "earn daily income": these are scams, every time. Casino-style games use random outcomes, and the odds always favour the house over time. Nobody can sell you a reliable way to win. Our slot myths article explains why.

Warning sign 5: modded or "hacked" APKs

Downloads labelled "mod", "unlimited coins" or "hack version" are often loaded with malware. They can read your messages, steal saved passwords or take over your accounts. Read how to install APKs safely.

Warning sign 6: you're asked to pay to download

Real game apps are free to download. If a site asks you to pay for an APK or "activation", leave.

Quick safety checklist

  1. Open apps only from official links.
  2. Check the web address every time you log in.
  3. Never share OTP codes or passwords.
  4. Ignore anyone selling tricks, hacks or guaranteed wins.
  5. Report fake pages to the platform where you found them.

Already fell for one?

Change your password immediately from the real site, log out of other sessions if the app allows it, and contact the app's official support. If you shared bank or wallet details, contact your bank or wallet provider straight away. Then read our account security guide to lock things down.
